Description
On June 28, 2007 the Department of Interior took the American bald eagle off the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened. Bald eagles will still be protected under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. The number of nesting pairs in the lower 48 United States increased 10-fold, from less than 450 in the early 1960s, to more than 4,500 adult bald eagle nesting pairs in the 1990s. In the Southeast, for example, there were about 980 breeding pairs in 1993, up from about 400 in 1981. The largest concentrations were in the states of Florida and Louisiana. The most recent count of bald eagle nesting pairs in the lower 48 indicates MN, FL, and WI have the largest numbers. I found this beauty in Florida!

So we were out canoeing this weekend and saw many eagles that I could have captured but I did not bring my camera because I did not want it to get wet.. bummer. this is fantastic.
Lisa Kilby replied:
Oh that is a bummer, Wayne!! I'm thinking about looking into purchasing some kind of waterproof bag for my camera. There are times I'm on a boat and would like to bring along my camera without worries! Thank you for your visit :)

This image is fantastic! We are having this spring the nest of the Bald Eagle near to your house in Virginia Beach,Va. It is really interesting to watch them time to time. There are many people stay up there all day long and taking some video and photos.
